The answer is: True

Jesus could not have been born in the year 0 A.D. as it doesn't actually exist historically - our calendar jumps straight from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D. with no intervening year zero. Also, Dionysius was commissioned to establish the year of Christ's birth and due to insufficient historical data he arrived at a date which was a few years late. The birth of Christ is generally accepted to be around 5 or 6 B.C. as Herod died in 4 B.C.

Isn’t that wild? We celebrate Christmas to commemorate Jesus' birth, but our very calendar gives us a historical curveball. The insertion of a “year zero” would have made things a whole lot easier for everyone, but there isn’t one in the Gregorian calendar. Talk about a numbers game!

When Dionysius - who likely didn’t have Google and the earthly resources we do today - calculated the year of Christ's birth, his somewhat inaccurate timing has piqued the interest of scholars ever since. Nowadays, most modern understanding puts Jesus’ birth around 5 or 6 B.C. Imagine a scene playing out with shepherds and angels while a somewhat confused calendar ticks into various decades.

This fun little fact about Jesus' birth is just part of a larger tapestry of similarities seen in ancient reports of messengers appearing in fields. Echoes of celestial happenings filled with miraculous beings aren’t unique to Christianity; similar stories emerge across different cultures. You can find common threads linking serenity, guidance, and divinity.

It’s reflective that these themes have so much resonance – maybe suggesting a deeper longing present in the human heart for connection and the fantastic within the everyday drama of life. Keep an eye out; in those timeless narratives, bigger contexts often stir human curiosities. History circles back faster than you can sing “Joy to the World!”
